چکیده
Abstract A dynamic mechanical thermal analyser (DMTA) was used to develop insight into the properties of bioinspired asymmetric helicoidal carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) composites as a function architecture using inter-ply stacking angles 0° (UD), 0/90° (cross-ply), 5°, 15°, 10°, 20°, 25° and 30°. Here, we show that CFRP are linearly correlated their oriented ply fractions between 45° off loading axis. We furthermore provide evidence from tan- δ curves heterogeneous materials with separate viscoelastic phases glass transition temperatures, resulting architectures these composites. Inter-ply finally noted critical factors affecting extent macromolecular mobility within helicoidally stacked continuous Graphical abstract

Viscoelastic properties of dynamically asymmetric binary fluids under shear flow.
We study theoretically the viscoelastic properties of sheared binary fluids that have strong dynamical asymmetry between the two components. The dynamical asymmetry arises due to asymmetry between the viscoelastic stresses, particularly the bulk stress. Our calculations are based on the two-fluid model that incorporates the asymmetric stress distribution. We simulate the phase separation proces...
متن کاملUnderstanding the strength of bioinspired soft composites
Remarkable mechanical properties of biocomposites (bone, teeth, shell, antler etc.) are usually attributed to their special design where staggered mineral platelets are embedded in a protein matrix. Because of the high aspect ratio of the platelet the soft protein deforms in the shear mode predominantly providing the linkage for the hard inclusions. Mimicking Nature one might design materials w...
متن کاملA bioinspired study on the compressive resistance of helicoidal fibre structures.
Helicoidal fibre structures are widely observed in natural materials. In this paper, an integrated experimental and analytical approach was used to investigate the compressive resistance of helicoidal fibre structures. First, helicoidal fibre-reinforced composites were created using three-dimensionally printed helicoids and polymeric matrices, including plain, ring-reinforced and helix-reinforc...
متن کاملEffects of hygrothermal stress on the failure of CFRP composites
This paper investigates the hygrothermal effects on the failure mechanisms in bending of carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites. Accelerated diffusion testing was carried out by immersion at 50°C constant temperature and 70 bar hydrostatic pressure to study the effects of fresh or sea water diffusion into pre-preg CFRP laminates. Consequently the composite laminates were tested in be...
متن کاملAnalysis of high loss viscoelastic composites
Synopsis A theoretical study of viscoelastic properties of composites is presented with the aim of identifying structures which give rise to a combination of high stiffness and high loss tangent. Laminates with Voigt and Reuss structure, as well as composite materials attaining the Hashin-Shtrikman bounds on stiffness were evaluated via the correspondence principle. Similarly, viscoelastic prop...
